By 508 AD with the capitol of Rome now in Constantinople many laws were being passed to enforce religious Catholic beliefs.
But at this time most of the west had fallen to barbarian tribes and many of them still held on to pagan, or Arian beliefs.
If only there was some kind of power to give unto this beast (now becoming Papal Rome).
Lucky for them, a power was rising in the west to do just that and so begins the fall of paganism (along with Arianism) and the Rise of the Beast or Catholic Christianity.
Rome although divided now begins to unite under Papal Rome and its Catholic beliefs.
Many years later the Reformation wounded this Beast, but the Beast is now on the rise again.
And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? (Revelation 13:4)
