Comparing Beliefs

Daniel 11:36

Daniel 11:23 "And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people."

The league here is believed to be the one found in Maccabees:

In consideration of these things, Judas chose Eupolemus the son of John, the son of Accos, and Jason the son of Eleazar, and sent them to Rome, to make a league of amity and confederacy with them, (1 Maccabees 8:17)

I guess this league happened in 158 BC. - I did not look this one up.

First off I want to say I don't agree with this date (158 BC).

But it is on the Millerite and Adventist Chart.

So I guess now I'm in apostasy for rejecting the words of Ellen White.

I don't think there is much controversy on this date.

It is some of the later dates everyone will debate.

If you say anything against the chart, you may be corrected with statements like these.

Many things on the chart I do believe are inspired, specially for that time, but much more light was given since those charts were made, and more still to come during the latter rain.

Now back to why I disagree.

This mostly comes from the context of the verses before this one.

Lets back up the scripture a bit to take a look.

Daniel 11:20 "Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle."
Daniel 11:21 "And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries."
Daniel 11:22 "And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant."
Daniel 11:23 "And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people."

Here is how I see the flow of these verses, all after 158 BC:

Now if verse 23 were like a verse or an event off maybe I could go with 158 BC.
But we got multiple events happening before verse 23, and to go back and revisit 158 BC just seems out of place.
None the less I posted it here since it is on the charts.
