Daniel "11:38 But in his estate shall he Papacy honour the God of forces/fortresses: "The Three Cities?" and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he Papacy honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things."
|
There is not much light on these verses from here on. I see three main points in this verse. Point One: "a god whom his fathers knew not." Most pages I see on this verse like to explain who this god is. Deut 29:26 - Context: Deut 29:24-27 / Deut 32:16-17; Jer 44:3; Could this be referring back to the curses of Deut 28? We looked at that some on the Daniel 8 - Rome lesson. Point Two: "honour the God of forces/fortresses:"
We will look at this more closely on the next verse. Here are a list of some of them: Point Three: "strange god" Most of my searching below was looking for a Strange God. Put away the strange gods that are among you. (Gen 35:2) |
The Scriptures describe the condition of the world just before Christs second coming. Of the men who by robbery and extortion are amassing great riches, it is written: "Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. Behold, the hire of the laborers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you." James 5:3-6. But who reads the warnings given by the fast-fulfilling signs of the times? What impression is made upon worldlings? What change is seen in their attitude? No more than was seen in the attitude of the inhabitants of the Noachian world. Absorbed in worldly business and pleasure, the antediluvians "knew not until the Flood came, and took them all away." Mat 24:39. They had heaven-sent warnings, but they refused to listen. And today the world, utterly regardless of the warning voice of God, is hurrying on to eternal ruin. The world is stirred with the spirit of war. The prophecy of the eleventh chapter of Daniel has nearly reached its complete fulfillment. Soon the scenes of trouble spoken of in the prophecies will take place. "Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.... Because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate.... The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth." Is 24:1-8. "Alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.... The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down, for the corn is withered. How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate." "The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men." Joel 1:15-18, 12. "I am pained at my very heart; ... I cannot hold my peace, because thou has heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war. Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled." Jer 4:19, 20. "I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down." 23-26. "Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it." Jer 30:7. "Not all in this world have taken sides with the enemy against God. Not all have become disloyal. There are a faithful few who are true to God; for John writes: "Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." Rev 14:12. Soon the battle will be waged fiercely between those who serve God and those who serve Him not. Soon everything that can be shaken will be shaken, that those things that cannot be shaken may remain." Daniel 11:39 "Thus shall he Papacy do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he Papacy shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he Papacy shall cause them United Nations?, Atheism?, China? to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain." Since these verses flow together, I'll join together to try and better understand. Daniel 11:38-40 "But in his estate Vatican shall he The Papacy honour the god of forces/fortresses (1) and a god (1) whom his fathers God's People knew not shall he Papacy honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. (2) Thus shall he Papacy do in the most strong holds (3) with a strange god, (1) whom he Papacy shall acknowledge and increase with glory: (2) and he Papacy shall cause (4) them (1) to rule over many, Nations of The World and shall divide the land for gain (5) ". And at the time of the end shall the king of the south (6) Another Who? push at him Papacy ." 1. Who - God of Forces, Strange God, Fathers Knew Not 2. What - Honor with Gold (Money), Increase With Glory 3. Where - In The Most Strong Holds 4. Why - To Rule Over Many 5. How - Divide The Land For Gain 6. Who 2 - King Of The South |
So after breaking his down I started asking the 5 Ws. Who What Where Why How Some of these are answered in the verse. We already have a good idea of When so left that one out. The Who question is the big one. The videos below will be marked by the colors above. That way you know what question we are looking at. I will be adding videos as I go. Too much to deal with right now. So this will be lacking at first. Know of a video you would like added to the list? Another thing I'm doing is bringing in the first part of Daniel 11:40. I could go on and include the King Of The North but most already believe that is the Papacy, so I will leave that one alone for now. But yes I have my questions on who the King Of The North is too as you will see later. |
I would like to add one more point: |

So lets look at some of the different views and see how they stack up. In case you missed it here are what the colors mean by the bullet point next to the video. Who, What, Where, Why, How, King Of The South, Inspiration |

The mystery of the trinity is the central doctrine of the Catholic faith. Upon it are based all the other teachings of the church. - Handbook for Today's Catholic, p. 11 |

As you can tell, I'm very lost at this point. |
Daniel 11:38 "But in his estate Vatican shall he The Papacy honour the god of forces/fortresses The Dragon (Satan) and a god lower case god who wants to be uppercase whom his fathers God's People knew not shall he the Papacy honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
Fathers knew not: Daniel 8:24 "his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power." |
Why Satan? And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: (Rev 13:4) This is what Satan has been after from the beginning right? For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: (Is 14:13)
False revivals have already been taken place. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with Spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and Republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan, and that the end is near. (Testimonies for the Church 5:451. ChS 160.4) The law of God and the law of Caesar have come into collision, and will come into collision again. The question we have to answer is, Shall we obey God, or Caesar? A great movement is now on foot to put the first day of the week in the place of the day God has sanctified and blessed. Satan works under a guise of religion, and guided by him, the professed Christian world will be very zealous in working against the law of God. Satan is leading men and women to complete the ruin he began in heaven. He is willing for the world to declare that the calamity by land and sea and the destruction by flood and fire, are because Sunday is desecrated. Herein lies his deception. He is well pleased when men and women exalt Sunday; for he has been working for centuries to place the first day of the week where the seventh should be. Of those who so zealously carry out the enemy's designs, God will inquire, "Who hath required this at your hand?" "To obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams." {RH June 4, 1901, par. 10} |
You know that Satan will come in to deceive if possible the very elect. He claims to be Christ, and he is coming in, pretending to be the great medical missionary. He will cause fire to come down from heaven in the sight of men, to prove that he is God. We must stand barricaded by the truths of the Bible. The canopy of truth is the only canopy under which we can stand safely. {SpTB06 33.1} Feels like they are just mocking God now. |
Daniel 11:39 Thus shall he Papacy do in the most strong holds Church and Government (state) buildings with a strange god false god , whom he Satan the false god shall acknowledge the Papacy, Nations, and Churches and increase with glory: as he promised Christ in Mat 4:8-9
Strange God: I broke one of my own rules here, and may need to repent.
The first part of Daniel 11, you see the North vs the South.
I feel like it is Satan who is acknowledging the Papacy. Daniel 11:39 "Thus shall he Papacy do in the most strong holds Church and Government (state) buildings with a strange god false god , whom he the Papacy shall acknowledge as Christ Himself and increase with glory: so that many fall down and worship him. |
The phrase "whom his fathers knew not" and the phrase "a strange god", are used interchangeably. Again I believe this is Satan. Thus shall he do ....with a strange god What will they DO together comes next. The Lord Jesus Christ came to dispute the usurpation of Satan in the kingdoms of the world. The conflict is not yet ended, and as we draw near the close of time, the battle waxes more intense. As the second appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ draws near, satanic agencies are moved from beneath. Satan will not only appear as a human being, but he will impersonate Jesus Christ, and the world who has rejected the truth will receive him as the lord of lords, and king of kings. He will exercise his power and work upon the human imagination. He will corrupt both the minds and bodies of men, and work through the children of disobedience, fascinating and charming as does a serpent. What a spectacle will the world be for heavenly intelligences! What a spectacle for God, the Creator of the world, to behold! |
Satan is busily laying his plans for the last mighty conflict, when all will take sides. After the gospel has been proclaimed in the world for nearly two thousand years, Satan still presents to men and women the same scene that he presented to Christ. In a wonderful manner he causes the kingdoms of the world in their glory to pass before them. These he promises to all who will fall down and worship him. Thus he seeks to bring men under his dominion. Satan is working to the utmost to make himself as God, and to destroy all who oppose his power. And today the world is bowing before him. His power is received as the power of God. The prophecy of the Revelation is being fulfilled, that "all the world wondered after the beast." {AUCR January 1, 1901, par. 2} As the crowning act in the great drama of deception, Satan himself will personate Christ. The church has long professed to look to the Saviour's advent as the consummation of her hopes. Now the great deceiver will make it appear that Christ has come. In different parts of the earth, Satan will manifest himself among men as a majestic being of dazzling brightness, resembling the description of the Son of God given by John in the Revelation. Revelation 1:13-15. The glory that surrounds him is unsurpassed by anything that mortal eyes have yet beheld. The shout of triumph rings out upon the air: "Christ has come! Christ has come!" The people prostrate themselves in adoration before him, while he lifts up his hands and pronounces a blessing upon them, as Christ blessed His disciples when He was upon the earth. His voice is soft and subdued, yet full of melody. In gentle, compassionate tones he presents some of the same gracious, heavenly truths which the Saviour uttered; he heals the diseases of the people, and then, in his assumed character of Christ, he claims to have changed the Sabbath to Sunday, and commands all to hallow the day which he has blessed. He declares that those who persist in keeping holy the seventh day are blaspheming his name by refusing to listen to his angels sent to them with light and truth. This is the strong, almost overmastering delusion. Like the Samaritans who were deceived by Simon Magus, the multitudes, from the least to the greatest, give heed to these sorceries, saying: This is "the great power of God." Acts 8:10. {GC 624.2} |
