Verses 25-26 is where I think we see Divided Rome.
Even though were already starting to see Papal Rome.

Daniel 11:25 And he

Rome

shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south

a barbarian tribe?

with a great army; and the

Arian

king of the south

Vandals (Rule the South 435-534)

shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army

who sacked Rome in 455

; but he

Vandals

shall not stand: for they

Rome + Papacy

shall forecast devices against him.

when Emperor Justinian sends in his general Belisarius and ends the Vandals reign of the south.

This is where you start to see many different ideas coming in.

Who is the King Of The South?

Again I'm trying to follow the previous Daniel chapters outline.

We go from Rome to Divided Rome so that is where my thinking is at.

Also the way I'm thinking is the the He, Him, His primarily pertains to Rome.

If you have something you think that explains these verses better let me know.

Source: Ducksters
Barbarian Peoples and Invasions of Rome
The barbarians weren't just one people group. The term "barbarian" was used to describe a wide variety of different peoples that had little to do with each other. Many of the groups that attacked and invaded the Roman Empire were Germanic tribes from Northern Europe.

Daniel 11:26 Yea, they

barbarian tribes (Goths) (Both Visigoths & Ostrogoths)

that feed of the portion of his

Rome's

meat

who are also fighting Rome's battles

shall destroy him

during the Sack of Rome (Visigoths in 410) (Ostrogoths in 476)

and his

Rome's

army shall overflow

or be swept away:

and many shall fall down slain.

The Goths especially were hired by Rome to fight it's battles in return for food and land.

But in battle they were usually being put in the front lines where many were killed and because of that they turned on Rome.

The Visigoths (410) sacked Rome, then the Vandals (455), then Ostrogoths (476) as seen here.

These sacks of Rome were all rather close to each other.

The Vandals started off small but quickly became a big threat.

It was mostly from the south, first Alexandria and later from the Vandals in North Africa that came most of the Arian Controversy.

Christianity was made the official religion in order to help unite Rome's Empire.

But now they (Rome) had to deal with controversy on the deity of Christ and the Trinity.

They needed to solve this problem, western Rome by around 500 AD had been taken over after all these invasions.

22:14 - Rome Christian + Arian Controversy
24:20 - Visigoths Sack Rome through part start of the Vandals ending at - 28:50
30:50 - Start Again - 33:22 Most Important
Visigoths convert to Trinity - Arian's wiped out by around 38:30

Vandals

Ostrogoths

Not looking good for the Catholics and their Trinity at this point.

Daniel 11:27 And both these kings'

Rome + Papacy

hearts shall be to do mischief, and they

Rome + Papacy

shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.

This verse to me feels like another "but" statement or in this case "for yet".
This is to let you know that what is happening at this time, is not yet the end times.
The time is probably referring to the very end when the Beast will achieve One World Government (for one hour).
Or this could also be referring to the 1260 year prophecy since we have not gotten there just yet.

Daniel 11:28 Then shall he

Rome

return into his

Rome's

land with great riches; and his

Rome's

heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he

Rome

shall do exploits, and return to his

Rome's

own land.

Heading back to Constantinople, the Capitol of Rome, the richest part of Rome, and where they are now by law deciding what Christians should believe.

This again has more to due with politics than anything else as we move into more ecumenical councils.

Daniel 11:29 "At the time appointed

leading up to 508 AD

he

Rome

shall return, and come toward the south

against the Vandals who now control North Africa and many of the Islands

; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter

as the Vandals would win this battle.

."

Daniel 11:30 "For the ships of Chittim

Vandals

shall come against him:

Rome

therefore he

Rome

shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant:

God's People

so shall he

Rome

do; he

Rome

shall even return, and have intelligence with them

Papacy

that forsake the holy covenant

God's Law.

Daniel and the Revelation:
What country or power is meant by Chittim?
We have but to think of the terrible onslaught of the Vandals
