Daniel 8:11 "Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down."
The prince of the Host is Jesus, he is the one daily ministering for us in the heavenly sanctuary above.
You will see that more clearly on the Daniel 8 Judgment study.
As long as we go to Jesus that daily service would take place.
Once Papal Rome took over it was taught that the church was now in authority.
Many things changed to take away from the heavenly ministry like:
This is how the daily was taken away. This is how the sanctuary was cast down.
Daniel 8:24 "and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people."
Daniel 8:25 "And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand."
These verses, I believe stretch from Rome to Papal Rome, first destroying literal Israel and crucifying Jesus, then later attacks spiritual Israel and attacks the ministration of Jesus in the sanctuary.
Some say because of "but he shall be broken without hand" that this prophecy reaches down till the very end.
If you read through Daniel 11, you see this (but) happens quite a bit.
This I believe is more to let us know, God wins in the end.
Not so we can give it a dual application and bring this prophecy down to the very end of time.
Daniel 8:12 "And an host was given him
Rome now turning into Papal Rome
against the daily sacrifice
or daily ministry of Jesus
by reason of transgression
mixing paganism with christianity,
and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered."
I could imagine Daniel thinking.
How long will this controversy last?
Is there any hope for the people of God?
Daniel 8:13 "Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake,"
Daniel 8:13 "How long shal l be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
Daniel is listening close to this conversation.
We will look at the time prophecy later.
This verse shows that it would take 2300 years until the end of this transgression of desolation.
The transgression is mixing pagan practices into christianity.
Desolation is determined.
How long will these desolation's last?
Daniel is given the answer.
Daniel 8:14 "And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed."
Daniel just got sick.
What is he saying!
2300 YEARS!?
How long did you say till the end of the desolations again?
Daniel 8:15 "And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man."
Jesus tells Gabriel to explain. (rather loudly it looks like)
Daniel 8:16 "And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision."
Daniel 8:17 "So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision."
Daniel 8:18 "Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright."
Daniel 8:19 "And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be."
This can't be 2300 years can it!
Daniel 8:26 "And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days."
Daniel is now really sick to his stomach.
This controversy is going to go another 2300 years!
Daniel 8:27 "And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it."
Yea I might take some time off of work after that too.
I would imagine others saying no way does this last 2300 years. You are crazy!
Now lets look and see if there are any similarities between the Little Horn in Daniel 7 and this one in Daniel 8.
