Daniel 12 Daniel 12 - Debated

'

Daniel 8:11 "and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down."

This is Satan through Papal Rome's attack on the sanctuary in heaven.

Lets look at that first.

We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. (Hebrews 8:1-2)

Jesus our High Priest is in Heaven now ministering in the the Sanctuary above.

What is he doing? And don't get caught up on the word Angel, it simply means messenger.

And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand. (Revelation 8:3-4)

Jesus is interceding for us!

Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. (Romans 8:34)

But there is still work to be done in the Sanctuary above.
Jesus hears our prayers, he is not there to condemn us but to plead in our behalf to save us.
Salvation is free!

..so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. (Romans 5:15)

For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. (Romans 5:19)

Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. (Hebrews 7:27)

We no longer need to sacrifice since Jesus's did that once and for all.

So that part (sacrifice) has been fulfilled.

But there was more than just the sacrifice in the Sanctuary service on earth.

The High Priest still had to go into the Holy Place and once a year into the Most Holy Place.

There is still work to be done.

But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. (Hebrews 9:11-12)

So there are still two compartments left for work to be done it right? The Holy and the Most Holy.

Or did Jesus go into both and finish everything at once?

This is where a big problem starts. Mostly cause of the wording in Hebrews.

All these Hebrew Greek scholars have to show how intelligent they are and what the words really mean.

So they basically change the meaning of what Adventist have taught (through the KJV of the bible).

But I think if we just read it without your Greek or Hebrew dictionary of what all these words mean you will be better off.

We will Compare Translations here to see the problem first.

(KJV - Hebrews 9:11-12)
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
vs.
(NIV Hebrews 9:12)
He did not enter by spilling the blood of goats and calves. He entered the Most Holy Room by spilling his own blood. He did it once and for all time. He paid the price to set us free from sin forever.

Do you see the problem? Holy vs Most Holy.
Here is part of a quote that goes against Adventist teaching, who says he entered into the both compartments.

..because Jesus entered at the time of His resurrection into heaven itself with His own blood. It's all over. He obtained eternal redemption for us. You don't need this forced holiness in which you spend your life keeping track of all the commandments that you're supposed to keep in order for you to eventually to come out on the right side. (Walter Martin, March 15, 1989 lecture in Fresno, California.)

He is insinuating that because we teach a judgment that we believe in faith by works (keeping the law will save us).
This is not what the judgment is about, as we will see later.
Adventist believe like most Christians do that we are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Back to the wording problem.
Again throw out your Hebrew - Greek Dictionaries.
Lets listen to what Paul has to say.
We have three words used that causes the mix up.
They are hagion, hagia and hagia-hagion.
I don't care what the dictionaries actually says about these words, in fact I've never even looked at them.
Why not? Because Paul gives us the answer to begin with so their is no sense in putting other meaning on these words.
Lets see what Paul says about the three words.

Hagion - The Entire Two Apartment Sanctuary
  • Hebrews 9:1 - Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary (Hagion).
    • Hagia - The Holy Place
  • Hebrews 9:2 - For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary (Hagia).
    • Hagia-Hagion - The Most Holy Place
  • Hebrews 9-3 - And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all (Most Holy Place) - (Hagia-Hagion);
  • If you need to proof read it, Bible Hub is a good place for that.

Back to the verse in question.

Hebrews 9:12 "Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place (hagia), having obtained eternal redemption for us."

So you can take the writer of Hebrews at his word or all these scholar's that twist things around to get rid of what the Bible is actually saying.

    Throw your NIV away!

Jesus went into the Holy Place after his resurrection not the Most Holy.

The NIV is an attack on Jusus' Ministry in the sanctuary in heaven.

And also couple things to note:

    One:

When the scripture says "daily sacrifice":
Sacrifice is in italics meaning that word was an added word to try and better help the translation.
So in the verse below I will remove the word sacrifice as that part of the daily Jesus has already fulfilled.

    Two:

There is a controversy on the Daily.

For me I don't care much since they are close to the same thing.

On side is Jesus ministration is taken away, the other side is Pagan Christianity is set up.

I'll post both and you can decide.

    Pagan Christianity set up version:

    Daniel 8:11

    "Yea, he magnified himself

    Papal Rome

even to the prince of the host

    Jesus,

    and by him

    Rome

    the daily

    continuance system of paganism

    was taken away,

or set up blending it with Christianity

    and the place of his

    Rome's

    sanctuary

    Capitol

    was cast down

    and moved to Constantinople

    ."

    Daniel 8:12

    "And an host

    of God's church

    was given against

    or untied with

    the daily

    mix of paganism

    by reason

    of rebellion or

    transgression,

    against God

and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered."

    Ministration Of Jesus version:

Daniel 8:11 "Yea, he magnified himself

    Papal Rome

even to the prince of the host

    Jesus,

    and by him

    Rome

    the daily

    Jesus Ministration in Heaven

    was taken away,

as the Papacy was putting itself in place of Jesus

    and the place of his

    sanctuary was cast down."

Daniel 8:12 "And an host was given

    him against the daily

    ministration of Jesus

by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered."

I have always leaned to the ministration of Jesus being taken away by placing the Papal system in it's place.

But yea setting up the Pagan Christianity or the Papal System does sound good too.

Like I said they are very close to the same thing so I'm got going to fight over this one.

Daniel 8:13 "Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily

attack on the ministry of Jesus,

    and the transgression of desolation,

forcing laws that mixed paganism with christianity, (the biggest one being sunday worship)

to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?

Daniel 8:14 "And he said unto me

    Daniel,

Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

Daniel 8:14 "And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed."

Daniel 8:19 "For at the time appointed the end shall be."

But When does this 2300 days start?

Daniel 8:27 "And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it."

Well Daniel fainted so I guess we will never find out.
Ok, Daniel does find out later in Daniel 9.
Which ends up being 457 BC.
So if we add -457 to 2300 we get 1843.
That was the Millerite Movement, the teaching that Jesus would come again in 1843.
But there was a problem with that kind of math.
    Lets start at 0.
    From 0 to 1843 = 1843
    From 0 to -457 = -457
    Adding them up = 2300
    So whats the problem?
There was no zero year between BC and AD. It went from -1 to +1
Now do you see the problem?
We need to start at 1 not 0 after the -457 ends.
Doing that we end up at 1844 not 1843.
Also the date was moved up to October to the Day Of Atonement.
Looking up the Day Of Atonement you end up in September.
But that depends on what calendar you use.
They went with an early version of the Karaite Calendar which changes things by a month due to when the timing of the leap year is or adding a month to the calendar.
This took them to the date of October 22, 1844.

Jesus did not return on that date as we know.
This is known as The Great Disappointment.

Many went their separate ways, some joined into different groups or went back to their oringinal churches.

A few continued to study the prophecies and some of those came to realize that 1844 did not mark the end, but a beginning when Jesus moved from the Holy to the Most Holy.

Now that we got some history out of the way lets get back to the study.

Daniel 8:14 "And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed."

As we heard some above, after the 2300 days, the High Priest in Heaven who is Jesus moved from the Holy to the Most Holy.
This started the cleansing of the sanctuary in heaven.
Lets look at what happened during this time on earth.

Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God. (Leviticus 23:27-28).

    Leviticus 16: Aaron does this:

Aaron shall offer (for himself) (vs. 3,6)
    • Bullock
        For:
      • Sin Offering
    • Ram
        For:
      • Burnt Offering

    • And for the congregation of the children of Israel: (vs. 5)
    • Two Goats
        For:
      • One for the LORD
          For:
        • Sin Offering
      • One for the Scapegoat
          For:
        • To make an atonement with him (Lord)
        • To let go the scapegoat into the wilderness.
    • Ram
        For:
      • a Burnt Offering

Sprinkles Blood From A Bullock (vs. 14)
    • upon the mercy seat
        To Make An Atonement for:
      • himself
      • his family

    • Sprinkles Blood From A Goat (vs. 15)
    • upon the mercy seat
        To Make An Atonement for:
      • the people
And he shall make and Atonement for: (vs. 16)
        • holy place
        • tabernacle of the congregation

    • Sprinkles Blood From Bullock & Goat (vs. 18)
    • unto the altar that is before the LORD.
        Make An Atonement for:
      • the altar that is before the LORD

    • And when he hath made an end of reconciling (vs. 20)
    • the holy place
    • the tabernacle of the congregation
    • and the altar.

    • Shall bring the live goat: (vs. 21)
    • lay both his hands upon the head
confess over him... putting them upon the head of the goat
      • all the iniquities of the children of Israel
      • all their transgressions in all their sins
    • and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:
    • and the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited:
    • and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.

For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD. (Leviticus 16:30)

And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation. (Leviticus 16:33)

Everyone teaches the first phase of the Sanctuary when Jesus died on the Cross but was that the end of it?

Now lets look more at the Heavenly Sanctuary.

What started to happen in 1844 when Jesus went into the Most Holy.

Then by virtue of the atoning blood of Christ, the sins of all the truly penitent will be blotted from the books of heaven. Thus the sanctuary will be freed, or cleansed, from the record of sin. In the type, this great work of atonement, or blotting out of sins, was represented by the services of the Day of Atonement the cleansing of the earthly sanctuary, which was accomplished by the removal, by virtue of the blood of the sin offering, of the sins by which it had been polluted. (Ellen White - Christ In His Sanctuary - A Figure of Things in the Heavens - pg. 56)

For eighteen centuries this work of ministration continued in the first apartment of the sanctuary. The blood of Christ, pleaded in behalf of penitent believers, secured their pardon and acceptance with the Father, yet their sins still remained upon the books of record. As in the typical service there was a work of atonement at the close of the year, so before Christ's work for the redemption of men is completed there is a work of atonement for the removal of sin from the sanctuary. This is the service which began when the 2300 days ended. At that time, as foretold by Daniel the prophet, our High Priest entered the most holy, to perform the last division of His solemn work to cleanse the sanctuary. (Ellen White - Christ In His Sanctuary - The Cleansing of the Heavenly Sanctuary - pg. 146)

But the plan of redemption had a yet broader and deeper purpose than the salvation of man.
    It was not for this alone that Christ came to the earth;
it was not merely that the inhabitants of this little world
    might regard the law of God as it should be regarded;
but it was to vindicate the character of God before the universe.
To this result of His great sacrifice its influence upon the intelligences of other worlds,
as well as upon man the Saviour looked forward when just before His crucifixion He said:
"Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all unto Me." John 12:31, 32.
The act of Christ in dying for the salvation of man would not only make heaven accessible to men,
but before all the universe it would justify God and His Son in their dealing with the rebellion of Satan.
It would establish the perpetuity of the law of God and would reveal the nature and the results of sin.
(Ellen White - Patriarchs and Prophets - Chapter 4 - The Plan of Redemption - pg. 68)

The Plan Of Redemption was shown in the Sanctuary, Jesus dying on the cross was just the start of it. We need to look fully at the whole plan.

The intercession of Christ in man's behalf in the sanctuary above is as essential to the plan of salvation as was His death upon the cross. By His death He began that work which after His resurrection He ascended to complete in heaven. We must by faith enter within the veil, "whither the forerunner is for us entered." Hebrews 6:20. There the light from the cross of Calvary is reflected. There we may gain a clearer insight into the mysteries of redemption. The salvation of man is accomplished at an infinite expense to heaven; the sacrifice made is equal to the broadest demands of the broken law of God. Jesus has opened the way to the Father's throne, and through His mediation the sincere desire of all who come to Him in faith may be presented before God. (Ellen White - Christ In His Sanctuary - Perfecting Holiness in the Fear of God - pg 186)

Daniel 8:26 "And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days."

Letting Daniel know that this will not happen till towards the end of time.

Which as we learned this time prophecy started in 1844.

Daniel 9:27 "And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it."
